This is my latest painting. I wanted to keep it dark, but calm, and have the 2 characters stand out from the background, but also be textured similarly. I used a limited palette of colours and custom brushes to paint the whole thing.

Hi All. Here is my another matte painting just from my imagination, listening Mozart "Requiem" This job was done in photo-shop, searching and thinking of hell , heaven and purgatory. I did this piece at night so it is Escape from Purgatory not from Heaven. Next time I will try Heaven. Enjoy.

This image was done in photoshop. The upper part is painted. The rest is few photos combined together. The mountain is not attached to the ground, it is moving toward us. I wanted to create an atmosphere of a loneyly hell. I hope I got it.

Hello,
This is my 5th digital painting. I wanted to focus attention onto the ship in the center, and keep it as the main subject. I also used a limited colour palette. This took about 8 hours to complete, and was done in Photoshop. Thanks!

The Gates Of Purgatory

This is a photoshop painting I recently finished.
I got the idea when I was in Germany working as Art Director for a game company. One day a couple of us went for a walk around the small town and we came across an old World War II cemetery which had many soldiers burried in it. There was a big tower in the middle with a chimney on top, and when I looked inside the openening it was very dark and I could see various caskets placed vertically along the walls. The atmosphere was quite disturbing.
This painting started out as a 3D render which I eventually painted over and used some matte painting techniques as well. Time for the painting took about 10 hours.
